"24" the Tamil Movie

After a long time, a good Tamil movie with a good story line and furthermore it is a Sci-Fi movie. Wait !, yeah you heard it right. A Sci-Fi tamil movie. Kollywood ( Tamil Movie Hollywood version ) has been making a couple of Sci-Fi movies. They are adding some trends in their movies similiar to Bollywood style ( Hindi Movie Hollywood version ) and Hollywood concept.

Mother's day movie outing with my big family. The ever hyped movie for this year, thought of giving my review after watching it. I normally do not review Tamil movies and I am more of a English movie fan. But this time, I got myself wrong as I enjoyed this movie. There are many good Tamil movies directed but somehow somewhere this movie, it was not appreciated because it was not a commercial movie that the viewers expected.

Anyways, this is my review of this movie.

Picture taken from Google search.

Alright, back to this movie review in my own thoughts. Suriya’s own production " 24 " is a brilliant film directed by Vikram K Kumar. When the teasers and trailers were out, there were so much expectation expected from the movie. The way the trailer was released, interestingly had something to be looked up and no disappointment actually.

The way the director starts his narration of the story, from the very first breath starts to grow in front of your eyes.I would say it is a must to watch movie from the very first in order for you to enjoy the complete essence of the story. If you did walk into the cinema hall late, then it is not worth for you as you will not understand the story better.

"24" generally is a number, represents a day in your life The ultimate fact of the life that, there is solution to almost every problem or conflict in one’s life but could be fixed if ‘time’ was manipulated.Yes, if it was possible we can get to turn back the time.

Now, using this fact to tell a story is more than a smart move,  as it chooses ‘time travel’ as its primary concept.Never knew a strong script like this would end up in Tamil movies. Instead, the director was wise enough to present the tale in way that will amuse all level of viewers. Simply mind-blowing script and the watch that only goes back for 24 hours.

I have watched many time-travel English movies with Time Machines instead, but this was for just 24 hours backwards till they rebuild the watch to go back into past years. What I liked the most in this story is that, when the time is turned back into the past years, the current person would not exist in that those years. If you notice in English movies, you will travel back as yourself to correct the history or the past but in here it wasn't the same. So there weren't any copy of an English movie story as I know.

The brilliance in the craft of storytelling keeps hitting you hard; making you not to take your eyes off the screen. There might be a common argument criticizing the romance sequence which is a typical tamil movie standard, but there is a purpose for the movie to have that other wise it will be excepted as a Tamil movie.

But what one shouldn’t forget is, a storyteller is given the tag ‘smart’ only when he understands his whole wide range of audience and designs the elements of his story accordingly. In fact, that is a smart choice! But this in no way makes it look like the director at the very instance of choosing to make a sci-fi in an entertaining manner, he had to respect his audiences who looks forward for the little touch of romance and comedy.

Every emotion is portrayed in all views; from love to comedy to pain to revenge, it all comes under  three important roles played by the hero in the film. As a viewer I feel happy as the hero has patiently communicated to the audience with utmost sincerity with his acting talents. Special mention to his ‘Athreya’ avatar. It is an experience and it is best understood by experiencing watching him playing the role.
In today’s development in technology it is more likely a creator's wish for anything and it makes it happen. What is technology now, you design everything in your mind and redesign it on the technology. The stunning visual effects and the graphics were amazing and the locations scenes were well designed and matched for the story as what I didn't expect in a Tamil movie.

Furthermore, the story was in a flow that was full of suspense, as viewers we were waiting what will happen next. Overall, the movie was worth watching and those loved Sci-Fi will really enjoy it rather than the normal commercial movies.

The BGM in typical AR Rahman style sets the mood right for the tale. His music simply blew the screens off.
