Women of this Era

I have not heard about her or even known about her before. But today onwards, I know who she is and someone to be recognized. I watched the Fortune Most Powerful Women conference live on the internet.
As it was her turn to speak and Sherly Sandberg, COO of Facebook interviewed her. As Somaly spoke about her past, deriving from a poor family in Cambodia. Life has been such a traumatic despair for this woman as a little girl. Desperate for survival by her family leaded in destroying her future instead. A man so called her grandfather sold her into sexual slavery. Till this day, due to the passing of time and with a wounded memory, Somaly still does not know who this man was to her but yet his actions set her on an unimaginable path that fraught with danger, desperation, and unspeakable horrors. She grew up rest of her life in brothel and was caged with other children all the while.
Her worst nightmare was to watch one of her friends was vicious murdered. Fearing that she might also meet that same fate she manages to escape from her captors and found a way to build a new life for her. Since then she has dedicated her life in saving those victims who are still in that dungeon of hell.
In 1996, that when the door open widely for Somaly , this world has recognize her as a true heroine. She established a Cambodian non-governmental organization called AFESIP (Agir Pour les Femmes en Situation Precaire). She still struggles to rescue children and also stays and walks with them to give them a life into this world that took away their life previously.
But God was kind enough to lead her out of the nightmare into limelight of the world.
She is just another woman like all the other women in this world. But she is a surviving heroine to all of us. Somaly Mam's extraordinary personal strength and ongoing struggle for a just world where human beings are no longer enslaved and exploited, and earned a world reputation.
Somaly Mam is true living heroines of our time, and is making a real difference in the life's of real children affect in all 3rd world countries. Let’s give our support and generosity to this very worthy cause. Every contribution helps to make a difference.”

Anuradha Koirala is also another woman well known to the world that is also saving hundreds of lives of young girls who would be sold into these kind of slavery in India. She has been regconised through numerous awards dedicated to this herosim .

Being a turning point of her life after ending years of marriage with her abusive husband, this middle class teacher moved forward lending her  hands to reach the women out there who needs them.

Fascinating to know there are women out there sacrificing their life's to save another woman somewhere in the world.

Where are the men ?
